Parklife: two dog tracks, two photographic stories
Romford supplied the front-cover race photograph; Walthamstow supplied Paul Postle’s photographs of the band for the packaging.
Parklife joins Bob Thomas’s Romford race image with Paul Postle’s Walthamstow photographs of Blur. The two tracks contributed different parts of the packaging.

Thomas’s Romford race picture reached Parklife through the selection of an existing photograph. Blur did not have to pose at that track for its image to become the album’s front cover. The photograph carried one place into a new visual context.[1]
The band goes to Walthamstow
Postle photographed the musicians at Walthamstow Stadium for the packaging. The venue already possessed a distinctive architectural identity. Historic England’s record dates the concrete entrance range and tote board to 1932 and describes Art Deco detailing, a central clock and prominent stadium lettering. The band’s session took place within a landscape of mass leisure whose visual identity preceded the album by decades. The surviving architectural record gives that setting its own history.[1][3]
Designing for impact at a smaller scale
In U&lc’s contemporary 1995 coverage, Stylorouge designer Chris Thomson described the force he saw in the dogs’ eyes and stressed the need for a strong attitude in a CD cover’s colour or imagery. The page reproduced Parklife alongside other examples of music packaging. His comments connect the selected photograph with a practical design problem: an image needed to retain its impact within the smaller physical format of a CD.[2]

These are historical photography associations, without exact camera-position pins. Walthamstow’s racing use ended and the property changed. Check present access arrangements for either site; the record does not imply a surviving 1990s setting.
