Hansa Studios

Hansa’s official history separates the 1973 opening of Studio One from the 1975 move into the Köthener Straße complex, where the Meistersaal became Studio Two.

A world beyond the screen

Enter Hansa through one active address and a layered studio history, from the 1973 opening of Studio One to the Meistersaal years beside the Wall.

Hansa is often reduced to a romantic “studio by the Wall” label. Its own chronology is more useful: Studio One opened in Halensee in 1973; the Meisel brothers took over the Köthener Straße complex in 1975; Studio Two’s acoustics and location drew Bowie and Iggy Pop; and the same building remains an active production environment. This route keeps artist claims tied to Hansa’s record and treats tours as booked access, not an always-open museum.

RECORDING STUDIO / BOOKED ACCESS

Hansa Studios

Hansa’s official history dates Studio One to 1973 and the Köthener Straße complex to 1975. At Studio Two, Bowie wrote “Heroes” and recorded the Berlin Trilogy with Iggy Pop; the same official history names the wider roster without pretending every artist used the same room.

Story reference

Hansa is an active studio. Interior access is available only through advance-booked tours on selected dates; recording work takes priority.
