Real or built?

In the film, a blade runner sorts human from replicant with a machine that watches the eye while it asks questions about empathy. Run it on the city instead. Seven subjects from the two films: say whether each was a real place or something built.

The Ticket Concourse is the police station in Blade Runner. The station opened on 3 May 1939, designed by the father-and-son architects John and Donald Parkinson.

The old ticket hall, with 30 windows of American black walnut, is now used as an event space.

Las Vegas was built in Hungary.

The sequel was made mostly on all six stages and the backlot of Origo Film Studios and three stages at Korda Studios in Etyek; its San Diego and Las Vegas were built in and around Budapest.

In Blade Runner 2049 the building plays the Vintage Casino, where K goes to find Deckard. Korean characters were added to the windows above the doorway; the lobby stair, columns and lamps stay recognisable.

Ignác Alpár’s exchange was completed in 1907. Hungarian Television used it from 1955 until 2009; in 2020 it stood empty, closed to the public.
