Trafalgar Square and its Norwegian Christmas spruce are in the opening montage. Norway has given London a Christmas tree every year since 1947, as thanks for Britain’s support during the Second World War. The tree is usually a Norwegian spruce 50 to 60 years old, felled near Oslo in November and shipped over by sea.
