Fox asks Darren Star, 27, for a series about teenagers in Beverly Hills, with Aaron Spelling already signed on to produce. The show followed teenagers living in one zip code: 90210, Beverly Hills. Run the tapes below out from the Beverly Hills sign to see where its school, beach club, college and family home really were.
Inside the warehouse
Jason Priestley has said the show was shot in converted warehouses in Van Nuys, California.

Season two, starting in the autumn. Now try the summer.

If someone comes back from a break with a new haircut, Spelling’s publicist says, Aaron goes crazy.
Gabrielle Carteris, the oldest of the cast, is 29 when she is cast as 16-year-old Andrea Zuckerman; Ian Ziering is 28 playing 16.
He told the story in a Toronto Film School conversation in April 2020, and remembered his nerves at going in to meet Aaron Spelling.
The buildings are not identified here, and they were working production spaces, not places to visit. Nothing is pinned.

From 1993 to 1997 the cast and crew were fixtures on the campus, which stood in for the fictional California University.
Associate producer and director David Semel, an Occidental graduate of 1985, suggested it; he says the series might never have filmed in the 90041 zip code without his Oxy connection. Semel sensed that executive producer Chuck Rosen wanted somewhere more unusual than UCLA and USC.
The filming brought the college much-needed revenue at the time.

Many students were critical of the show, and Ian Ziering spoke at a forum in Thorne Hall.
The producers took students’ concerns into the backgrounds, and copied hand-painted protest signs from the Quad.
