A mansion on a stage
The Buchanan estate exterior was built on a soundstage and enhanced digitally, with Hollywood Regency interiors, according to Wikipedia.
Filming began on 5 September 2011 at Fox Studios Australia and ended on 22 December 2011, with more shots in January 2012. ABC News reported on 7 September 2011 that shooting had begun in Sydney for a story set in New York in 1922.
The film was shot on Red Epic digital cameras with Zeiss Ultra Prime lenses.
The studio opened on 1 May 1998 on the former Sydney Showground at Moore Park, and was renamed Disney Studios Australia on 10 October 2022. Director Baz Luhrmann credited Screen Australia and the NSW Government with making filming in Australia possible.

The green light
Centennial Park and Waverley Cemetery are open to walk. The seminary, the studio, the polo club, Rivendell and The King’s School are working places with no public visiting found, so they are seen from the street, and the polo club is not pinned. White Bay reopened for the 2024 Biennale; check before you go.
