The sets were joined by tunnels so long they ran outside the stages, so a car could be driven from one set to the next on film, the article says. Shooting ran about 20 weeks, almost entirely in story order, which Wikipedia calls rare.
The studio’s own site describes nine soundstages and says nothing about public tours.
Wikipedia says almost everyone on the film suffered from dust on set, and food poisoning was also a problem.
