Shrek

Shrek was made in layers of real places: a castle, a market town, a plantation swamp and a donkey in Palo Alto. Then a premiere, a festival and two rides. Peel them back one at a time.

Two rides

The rides have gone

Shrek 4-D opened at two Universal parks in the spring of 2003. Both halls now show something else.

Universal Studios Hollywood

Wikipedia says Shrek 4-D opened at Universal Studios Hollywood on 23 May 2003. It ran for 14 years and closed in August 2017.

Its space was converted into the DreamWorks Theatre, on the Upper Lot along Universal Boulevard. The DreamWorks Theatre shows Kung Fu Panda: The Emperor’s Quest.
