Doijissal Supermarket · public access
Doijissal Supermarket
32 Songijeong-ro, Ahyeon-dong, Mapo-gu
Described in the place’s facts.
Inherited access advice: A working corner shop: buy something if you take a photo. Buses 600 or 7013 to Ahyeondong Furniture Store Complex, a few minutes’ walk. Reconfirm before visiting.
Doijissal Supermarket on Songijeong-ro, April 2021; the lane rising on the right leads to the stairs. · Aaaatu · CC BY-SA 4.0
It plays Woori Supermarket. Ki-woo drinks soju under its parasol while his friend Min-hyuk talks him into taking over his tutoring job.
The shop is still trading, and a picture of the scene hangs outside.
By 2020 the parasol and drinking spot had gone, replaced by an ice-cream freezer. Inside, Chapagetti and Neoguri, the two noodles in the film’s jjapaguri, were stacked side by side.
Seoul’s Parasite course starts here.
Evidence and coordinate precision
building position, inherited from its subject package. Current state: surviving.
Inherited access advice: Open to walkers. Buses 7016 or 1711 to the northern end; the opening on the east side gives the film’s angle. Best after dark, on a wet night. Reconfirm before visiting.
The stairs at the northern end of the Jahamun Tunnel, seen from the city’s Parasite photo zone, September 2020 (cropped). · Aatu Dorochenko · CC BY-SA 4.0
The tunnel is 458 metres long and joins Cheongun-dong to Buam-dong.
Soaked, the family runs down the staircase at the tunnel’s northern end on the way home.
The long stairs were chosen to show the gap between the Kims’ low home and the Parks’ house on the hill.
In 2020 the city began adding signs and photo zones to its Parasite sites.
Evidence and coordinate precision
area position, inherited from its subject package. Current state: surviving.
Inherited access advice: Quiet residential lanes. About 30 minutes’ walk from Hansung University station, or the Seongbuk 09 bus to the Seongbuk village stop. Reconfirm before visiting.
The Seonjamdan altar site on Seonjam-ro, Seongbuk-dong, September 2016. · 1997au · CC BY-SA 4.0
Ki-woo walks this lane to the Parks’ for his first tutoring lesson.
Seongbuk-dong is an old, wealthy village of large houses on quiet lanes, with cafés and galleries.
There is no Park house at the top: it was a set, built elsewhere.
Evidence and coordinate precision
area position, inherited from its subject package. Current state: surviving.
