AdeleEvery record is a birthday
Four candles lit, one for each record. Blow one out.
She names her albums after her age: 19, 21, 25, 30. So here are thirty candles. Light them, and at each of those ages the places behind that record come up in the light: a south London high road, a power station turned studio, a farm in Somerset, an observatory over Los Angeles.

Thirty candles. Light her age.
Every Adele album is named for the age she was when she wrote its songs. Tap a wick to light up to it, or strike them one at a time.
Skyfall, her theme for the Bond film of the same name, was recorded at Abbey Road Studios with 77 musicians.
Paul Epworth, who had worked with her on 21, co-wrote and produced it.
Adele said recording the strings was one of the proudest moments of her life.
It was first played on her website at seven minutes past midnight on 5 October 2012, 50 years after the first Bond film, Dr No.

Skyfall won the Oscar for Original Song at the 85th Academy Awards, on Sunday 24 February 2013, at the Dolby Theatre. The award went to Adele Adkins and Paul Epworth.
She sang it at the ceremony. She had never performed it live for an audience before, and it was her first American performance since the previous year’s Grammys.
She had already won a Golden Globe for it. The Oscars that year also paid tribute to 50 years of James Bond.

In a clip posted in July 2023 she told the crowd to stop throwing things at performers, then fired a T-shirt into the audience from a T-shirt cannon. One pump lands in the front stalls; three reach the back rows.

The arena held 76,000 people a night, a pop-up amphitheatre with a stadium’s capacity, built on a giant car park. More than 730,000 tickets were sold.
Behind the stage ran one LED screen 220 metres long and 20 metres high, made of 6,200 tiles. Guinness World Records named it the largest continuous outdoor LED screen (temporary).
Around the arena stood Adele World: a pop-up pub, a bar named after I Drink Wine, food stalls, a karaoke stage and a Ferris wheel.
