White Eskimo
At Holmes Chapel Comprehensive he sang lead in a band called White Eskimo, which won a local battle of the bands.
Born in Redditch on 1 February 1994, he moved as a child with his parents and his sister Gemma to Holmes Chapel in Cheshire.
As a teenager he also delivered newspapers and mucked out stalls at a stable.

Saturdays at the bakery
At sixteen he took a part-time job at the W. Mandeville Bakery in Holmes Chapel.
He worked there after school and on Saturdays; in 2024 a life-size cut-out of him in his uniform stood in the shop. Its owner remembered him as a really nice lad, easy and down to earth.
More than 5,000 fans came to the village in 2023, close to its population of 6,700.

A name on the viaduct
The viaduct appears in the 2013 documentary One Direction: This Is Us, where he writes his name on it.
The Independent calls it the 180-year-old viaduct where he had his first kiss. Fans leave messages on slate hearts bought from a shop in the village.
In June 2024 the village launched a guided walk taking in the bakery and the viaduct.

Bootcamp
Bootcamp began on 22 July 2010 at Wembley Arena. He did not make the Boys category; with four other eliminated soloists he was put into a five-piece group on 23 July 2010.
He named the band
Styles came up with the band’s name: One Direction.
On 11 April 2010 he auditioned for the seventh series of The X Factor as a solo singer. The arena opened in 1934 as the Empire Pool, built for the British Empire Games.

Two months in Jamaica
Part of his first solo album was made at the Gee Jam Hotel recording studio in Port Antonio, where he and his team spent a two-month writing retreat in autumn 2016.
Sign of the Times was conceived in Jamaica and written and recorded in three hours.

Shangri-La
Fine Line, his second album, was recorded at Shangri-La in Malibu. Late Night Talking was the first song written for Harry’s House, on the day the band and producers arrived at Shangri-La.
His producer Kid Harpoon says the team began Harry’s House with a month at Shangri-La during the pandemic.
The Band converted the ranch into a studio in the 1970s; Rick Rubin bought it in 2011.

In August and September 2022 he played 15 sold-out shows here on Love On Tour, from 20 August to 21 September. A permanent banner was raised inside the Garden to mark it; he was the third musician to get one.
