Marvin Gaye Park, Watts Branch
He grew up near the east end of the park that now has his name.
Formerly Watts Branch Park, it was renamed for him on 2 April 2006, what would have been his 67th birthday. It runs for nearly two miles along Watts Branch, the largest tributary of the Anacostia inside the District. A mosaic with his image marks the entrance to Lady Bird Johnson Meadows, at the western end, with other features themed on his songs.
WETA’s Boundary Stones places his first public performance, a cappella with friends, at the Watts Branch Playground.
A public park with a trail its whole length. The mosaic is at the Lady Bird Johnson Meadows entrance, by Minnesota Avenue and Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue.
