Built in 1965, this Modern International-style building was built as part of the Hyde Park A Urban Renewal Project, and is the least space-efficient and least architecturally significant structure constructed during the urban renewal project, taking up the block along 55th Street between Woodlawn Avenue and Kimbark Avenue, in space which was formerly home to larger apartment buildings and commercial buildings. The building is clad in dark gray brick with small doorways on the main (55th Street) facade, rear ells that create small rear courtyards surrounded with windows, and a simple, boxy design that has very little visual interest or character along one of the neighborhood’s busiest corridors. The building is a noncontributing structure in the Hyde Park–Kenwood Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979..
