After Mia seeks Sebastian out, he takes her into The Lighthouse Cafe and tries to explain what he loves about jazz. The sequence matters beyond the club itself: when they leave, the film carries Sebastian west toward Hermosa Beach Pier and into City of Stars. In the real world the two locations are only a short walk apart.
