The film’s story starts at Heathrow, with Farrokh Bulsara handling luggage. The real family lived a short walk from the airport, in Feltham, and the house is still there with a blue plaque. The crew could not record there: flights into Heathrow. Try it. Roll sound, and see how long you last.

The family moved here in November 1964, after leaving Zanzibar. English Heritage put up a blue plaque in 2016.

While he studied at Ealing he washed dishes in the kitchens at Heathrow Airport, close by. The film shows him handling luggage there.

The film did not shoot here, because of the noise of flights into Heathrow.

The old Wembley Stadium was demolished in 2002. So Queen’s whole Live Aid set was rebuilt as a giant set on the main runway of a former bomber base, and computers built the stadium round it.

Plays Wembley Stadium, 13 July 1985

Queen’s whole Live Aid performance was filmed on a giant set here, at the former RAF Bovingdon.

The studio says the Live Aid stage was built and filmed on its Main Runway: 950 metres long and 45 metres wide.

Computer graphics extended the set into a full stadium.

The airfield was built in 1941–42. As US Air Station 112 it flew combat missions and trained B-17 crews, and kept General Eisenhower’s own B-17.

Films have been shot here since The War Lover in 1961, among them 633 Squadron, Fast & Furious 6, Rogue One and 1917.
