The basement

The basement was a school

Screen Rant says it was used when the Armitage house lacked a usable basement.

Movie-locations.com lists Barton Academy, 504 Government Street, as the place used for the Armitage house’s basement scenes. The Cinemaholic places the basement scenes there, where Chris is tied to a chair in front of a television.

Work began on 13 February 1836 and the Greek Revival building was finished in 1839. Wikipedia calls it the first public school in the state of Alabama. Restoration began in June 2020 and the building officially reopened in August 2021.

Wikipedia says the film was shot in Fairhope for three weeks, with the Armitage house filmed just south of the town.

Barton Academy is a school, so look from Government Street or ask first. Ashland Place and Ryan Avenue are residential streets, and the Armitage house is a private home on a lane near Fairhope: it is named, not pinned, and not open. 127 Dauphin Street and the Los Angeles cruise terminal rest on a single fan list each.
