Open-fronted, like the house built at Leavesden. Heels down

The sign

Heels down.

Overnight, Barbie’s feet go flat, one of the changes that upset her perfect routine. Here, lower her heel a notch at a time: each notch lands in a real Los Angeles place the film used, until her foot is flat at the last drop-off.

The Dreamhouse was built with no walls and no doors; Greta Gerwig said a dreamhouse leaves you nowhere to hide.

So much fluorescent pink went on the sets that the paint supplier ran out, and Greenwood said the world ran out of pink.

A few blocks of Santa Monica do a lot of work. The 1939 City Hall plays a police station, a park nearby gives Barbie her epiphany, and the film ends at an office tower where Wilshire Boulevard meets the ocean.

Inland, the Real World gets taller. Ken finds his ideas outside an agency in Century City, a Bunker Hill bank tower plays Mattel, and Gloria hides the car in downtown Long Beach.
