Where they started.

Måneskin formed in Rome in 2016 and started out busking round the city. Via del Corso is where they took their first steps playing live.

They needed a name to enter a music contest. Victoria De Angelis, who is half Danish, wanted a word that honoured that side of her: Måneskin, moonlight.

In autumn 2018 they came back to it to play their new single, Torna a casa, by surprise.

Sanremo 2021 ran from 2 to 6 March under a health protocol: no audience in the hall, not even extras, and nothing outside the theatre.

Måneskin won with Zitti e buoni, beating Ermal Meta and Francesca Michielin with Fedez in the final. There were 25 other acts in the running.

The orchestra played behind polycarbonate screens.

Switzerland won the jury vote. Then 318 televote points put Italy in front. Måneskin won the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest here with 524 points. France was second on 499. The margin was 25 points.

It was Italy’s first win in 31 years, since Toto Cutugno in 1990.

On 9 July 2022 they played here to 70,000 people: two hours, made with Rock in Roma.

It had sold out in April, with more than 70,000 tickets gone. They opened with Zitti e buoni among tongues of flame, and asked a few dozen fans up on stage for Lividi sui gomiti.

Victoria De Angelis once tried to get in here to see the Rolling Stones.
