Production designer Phil Messina built about 20 sets. The back-of-house hallways ran about 450 feet as one joined set, with count rooms, a lift entrance, a break room, the eye in the sky and an interrogation room.
The vault had metallic, reflective finishes; its roof lifted off on motors for stunts, and it went through two explosions.
Soderbergh built the Mirador suite on a soundstage rather than on location.
Most of the film was shot from 11 February to 7 June 2001, in Las Vegas, with scenes in New Jersey, Chicago, Los Angeles, Florida and Burbank.
The tell

3600 South Las Vegas Boulevard
The crew filmed inside and outside the Bellagio for nearly five weeks, and the cast lived in the hotel’s private villas. The producer, Jerry Weintraub, was a friend of the owner, Kirk Kerkorian, which is how the crew got in. The valet entrance closed for three or four days, so high rollers checked in through the self-parking garage. The conservatory, the gardens and the lobby under the Chihuly glass were shut too.
Steve Wynn built the Bellagio on the site of the Dunes; it opened on 15 October 1998. A staircase seen in the film was later taken out to make room for the Spa Tower. The conservatory is free and changes with the seasons. Dale Chihuly’s Fiori di Como, 65 by 29 feet of glass, hangs from the lobby ceiling.
