The Belnord · Broadway to Amsterdam, 86th to 87th
The court.
1910: lawns, clipped trees, globe lamps and a carriage drive, the year after the Belnord opened.
It fills a whole block, bounded by Broadway, Amsterdam Avenue and 86th and 87th Streets. H. Hobart Weekes of Hiss and Weekes designed it, and it opened in October 1909.
Its court is about 231 feet long and 94 feet wide, with a twin driveway in from 86th Street. In 1910 it held 176 apartments.
It became a city landmark in 1966. Converted to condominiums from 2017, it was given new interiors by Robert A. M. Stern.
Season four’s courtyard wedding was filmed in the court.
Private condominiums. Look through the arch on 86th Street; the court is for residents.
