Beyoncé was born in Houston on 4 September 1981 and spent much of her childhood in the Third Ward.

The family house was on Parkwood Drive; she moved to Missouri City as a teenager. The Courier says the house gave its name to her company, Parkwood Entertainment.

In April 2026 the house was listed at just under $1.3 million and went under contract within weeks.

On 21 January 2013 she sang the national anthem at the presidential inauguration on the Capitol’s West Front.

Kelly Clarkson and James Taylor sang the other two songs.

On 3 February 2013 she played the Super Bowl XLVII halftime show at the Superdome. Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams joined her for a Destiny’s Child reunion in a 13-minute set.

On 14 April 2018 she headlined Coachella, the first Black woman to do so in the festival’s 19 years.

The set ran about two hours, with a brass band and a drum line. Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams joined her; Solange danced through one song; Jay-Z came out after more than an hour.

Up the Daru stairs

The Apeshit video, released in June 2018 and about six minutes long, was shot inside the Louvre. The glass pyramid in the Napoleon courtyard is in it too.

The museum then made a self-guided route through 17 works from the video, about an hour and a half, starting at the Winged Victory.

Open every day but Tuesday from 9am, to 9pm on Wednesdays and Fridays; last entry an hour before closing. Book a time slot: €32 from outside the EEA, €22 inside it, free for under-18s.

On Sunday 26 June 2011 she closed Glastonbury on the Pyramid Stage, opening with Crazy in Love.

Tricky joined her; despite the rumours, Jay-Z and Destiny’s Child did not. The set took in pieces of songs by Alanis Morissette, Eurythmics, Prince and Kings of Leon.

Worthy Farm is a working farm. The Pyramid Stage field opens only for the festival, next from 23 to 27 June 2027.

On Christmas Day 2024 she played the halftime show of the Texans–Ravens game at NRG Stadium, streamed on Netflix.

It was billed as her first live performance of songs from Cowboy Carter. On 28 and 29 June 2025 she brought the Cowboy Carter Tour home for two shows here.
