Clueless

Cher fixes everyone’s love life but her own. Pair two people and see where the film shot it.

Set up

Seven set-ups in the film · ten people

Set them up.

The film is Jane Austen’s Emma in a Los Angeles high school: a girl who arranges everyone’s love life and misses her own. Pick any two people. The program answers the way the film does, and opens the real place where that set-up was shot.

The orange lockers

Grant High School in Valley Glen provided the interior sets of Bronson Alcott High.

Lindsay Blake identified the film’s hallway here, with orange lockers and an orange-and-white tiled floor, and a classroom used in the film.

Grant opened as a high school in September 1959.

On film the mall is up to three malls in two parts of the city. Pick a scene, then the mall you think it is.

Fashion Square has been used in film and television productions, Clueless among them.

A location hunter who walked it argues it is the film’s only mall interior: the escalator Cher rides with Christian is on the eastern, Macy’s side, and the railing where Tai is nearly thrown over is across from it.

Amy Heckerling wrote and directed it, from Jane Austen’s Emma, which she had read in college. Alicia Silverstone is Cher Horowitz and Paul Rudd is Josh.
